Welcome to my website and into my world of art and illustration.
Here’s a bit about me . . .
I have enjoyed being creative for as long as I can remember! I create both digital and traditional illustrations, inspired by simple everyday things and particularly enjoy creating things that make a house feel like a home. I also love handlettering beautiful quotes and surface pattern design.
In the past I have worked in publishing at magazines and newspapers in London and Sydney. I’ve run my own graphic design and eco-friendly greeting card and stationery business. I also started a blog to champion independent designers and the beautiful things they make. I was so inspired by the wonderful creative people I met I decided to focus my attention on something I have always been passionate about – creating my own art and illustrations.
I enjoy learning new skills and have taken courses in ceramics, watercolour, sketching, oil painting, acrylics, colour foundations, graphic design, blogging, social media, digital marketing, handlettering and photography.
My hobbies include photography, travel, yoga, playing the occasional game of golf, and getting my hands into some wet clay and creating ceramics.
I am . . .
. . . a wife and mother of two, have lived in three countries and moved homes a nomadic 23 times. Thank goodness you can make art wherever you go! I was born in England but live in Sydney, Australia.
I create
. . . cheery illustrations, patterns and quotes for the simple reason to bring people joy and to help make a house (or anywhere you live!) feel like a home.
I believe . . .
Everybody is creative.
Creativity brings joy.
I love the quote . . .
Having moved so many times, one of my favourite quotes is ‘Home is wherever I’m with you’ and believe that plants and a few special homewares can make anywhere feel like home.
My blog is coming soon . . .
If you love to create or enjoy finding out about beautiful things by makers then pop over to my blog ‘The Crafty Escape’. It’s all about grabbing five minutes to yourself, along with a cuppa (because I love to drink tea) to enjoy mini craft projects, how-tos, sneak-peak shots of my studio and lots of craft loving fun!
